no joke they were guilty of pretty serious crimes in canada. In truth its kinda hard to get deported here so that gives ya an idea, sad though i wonder why

    2. dean 123

Deport them then if they come back hang them, sooner or later capital punishment will have to be used again thanks to the looney left.

      1. dean 123

@wonda preach because if they are deported for serious crimes and they manage to get back in the country then they need removing permanently whats the point in laws if there not obeyed and that goes for anyone comiting serious crimes in this country

      2. wonda preach

When I first looked at this issue my strong feeling and position on the issue was that, when you leave a country like Jamaica for Britain or the US you do so for a better life and indeed the opportunities are endless no matter who you are. You are a fool for choosing a life of crime instead of obeying the law and working hard to better yourself. You have no one but yourself to blame if you end up in prison or get deported. Indeed if you're so dumb as to come and break the law instead of taking the good opportunities there are, then you deserve to be sent back. I still very strongly feel this way. But I also continued thinking... One of the key principles of the criminal justice system is equality before the law. The simple principle that no matter your sex, color, religion or nationality you should expect to be treated the same way under the law. Continental Europe considers this to be pre-conviction while the US system and culture favors post conviction equality. i.e similar punishment. If we take to deporting people, after they have committed even driving offences then we wholly and completely abandon this key principle that we all depend on to be treated fairly by the criminal justice system. Criminal Justice should operate in 10 distinctive stages; Legislation, Investigation, Arrest, Detention, Charging, Pre-trial, trial, sentencing, infliction of punishment and termination of punishment. If we deport people permanently as a punishment for breaking the law no matter how trivial, then when does the final stage i.e. 'termination of punishment', come? My comment here is not to be soft on criminals. I am sure there are circumstances in which deportation is entirely right and proper. Terrorism and murder for example. Indeed I believe that some of those who were deported certainly should be. Even so I just cannot get away from asking myself; 1. What about the children and families torn apart? 2. What are the limits to breaking up families under Article 8 ECHR? 3. The fact that many of them were under even 10 years old when they came; and therefore, who they are was shaped by this society, clearly does not matter. But should it? 4. Some face mortal danger and others have been killed having been deported to a country they do not know but happen to have been born in? Should we feel guilt about that when the offence for which they were deported was a driving offence and they ultimately paid with their life? If you've read to this point its quite clear that I am conflicted about this. So please do share your views so I can challenge, change or confirm my own fluid position on this.

      2. blahblah67ful

@Gaz Short Fair enough, just getting sick of all the people saying all immigrants are bad when they are part of what keeps the country alive

      3. Gaz Short

@blahblah67ful its already in motion. There will still be migrants, just not allowing everyone in. Just people who pass the 'points system' which will still see thousands of migrants each year. Just not millions

      4. blahblah67ful

There is absolutely no way the government will control the borders tightly lol. UK has an aging population, in 30 years it'll be a crisis if we don't allow immigrants in because the current UK birth rate is too low to support the current working people, when they grow up there won't be enough tax and too many dependents (who need pensions). The best way to control the borders is to have more babies ๐Ÿ˜‚

    47. Drk RE

They are Jamaican Nationals who have committed serious offences in the UK, deportation to Jamaica is entirely appropriate.

      1. flitsies

@ian Garstang Just as a note did you see the latest news report in relation to Windrush, even though not complete how it highlights the institutional racism targeting people of colour compared to people who are white. Also the mention of an increase in racism within the dept of immigration on their own staff whom are none white. It makes for interesting reading. The thing is we can't blame Boris for this as he was not in power but he is now and could and should put a stop to it. There is no excuse in the UK for racism, blacks as well as many others have all helped a huge amount to keep this country great, but this kind of thing really drags the UK down and jeopardises future relations with other nations. So Boris should put his foot down and stamp it out, what he needs to deal with is the remnants of a really bad govt which is why we voted him in to deal with the hard decisions the UK will face going forward.

      2. flitsies

@ian Garstang I have not mentioned skin colour, but I suspect it played a huge part in this deportation. I actually agreed with you that criminals from other countries if they don't have citizenship should be booted out with the exception of those who served in the military and have suffered harm from doing so. But this should apply to all not just those who happen to be black. and it should apply to every country including Australians who commit multiple perverted acts on Children. Also as a Citizen you should fall under UK law whatever that is, so the govt should not have the right to remove your citizenship just because you don't happen to be white. This country has courted mass murderers under diplomatic immunity in the past even though their country wanted them for mass murder. I'm not saying the people who were deported did not deserve to be deported unless they were British Citizens, what I am saying and I say it again it should be dealt with fairly across the board all countries regardless of skin tone, which clearly is not the case. So with regards to Windrush, we can clearly see parallels with that situation again. A Veteran soldier booted out and the military did nothing on his behalf, the govt failings against commonwealth service men and potentially women as well. Only Jamaicans booted out while other rapists murderers child molesters remain, something seriously wrong there. Had there been a mix of Jamaicans and other countries booted out awaiting their flights then fine with the exception of the soldier, he has been grossly let down by the British govt and the military and as such should be helped not booted out.

      3. ian Garstang

@flitsies stop keep mixing up windbrush with the criminal's .government has said they made a mistake with windbrush. This is about international law.what about the VICTIMS Of there crimes why don't you talk about that orris it only about skin colour with you

      4. ian Garstang

        @Drk RE well said
